How many people are interested in starting a new Kart class for the 2011 season it would be a 250cc Intermediate class, ages 12 to 18? Let me know Brett Wilkins 775 423 6393 or send me a message to rcnut570@yahoo.com

Any idea on cost involved in having the 250cc class? I do think the track would have to be lengthened to accommodate such class also!
If 250cc would cost too much, is there another class that could possibly be added that would keep the cost down for those considering "Moving Up" such as a 125cc class or other "open" type class?
If either of the new classes were to be added, are there other tracks that these Karts could participate at for "series" Points and or Track Championships? These are questions that I believe would need to be addressed! JMO Ed

I will try to answer these questions you have, as far as cost invovled a intermediate 250cc kart can cost anywhere from $2500.00 to $ 6000.00 just depending on the deals you find, a 125cc class kart is about the same price give or take $500.00 to $1000.00. As far as a open briggs style class some of the drivers now are outgrowing these classes as far as age, and ability. So why hold them back.
As far as the track length it would be nice to have a larger track to race on I was led to believe this lengthing of the track was already a plan for the next racing season.
I have talked briefly with the karts in Battle Mountain and they are moving some of their drivers into a 250 cc class if there is enough interest I will address the series possibilty with them.
I hope this answered some of your concerns.
Thank You Brett

I've been moving in the direction of getting my daughter into the little kart class to get her started and to find out if she enjoys racing. Will the potential creation of and additional class or two deplete the lower class? I'm not to fond of the idea of popping out a couple of grand to have her drive (if allowed) by herself. Any CONSTRUCTIVE comments?

our 2 boys won't be moving up anytime soon, and plus were trying to get Fernley to put a track in for next year at their oval...so there will be another track to race and hopefully that will generate more karts to race between fernley, lovelock, battle mountain, and winnemucca...hope this helps!

2cents! The Kart class as it is today will NOT decline as even though the season here in Lovelock is coming to an end, we are seeing NEW kids, NEW Karts showing up at each race! There are several parents scouting for Karts for the upcoming season!
The only reason a NEW class is being discussed is that for some of the older and more experienced drivers, this would be their last year participating as the age limit is now being reached, and they have out grown their karts!
I have spoken with some parents about the smaller karts and they are going to look during the off season for "good buys", as again, some kids have outgrown thier karts!
We do hope your daughter does join in the fun next year with a new Karting experience!! Hope this helps in your thinking!

I think it's great. As far as your question goes, I don't see depletion of the lower classes I see them growing. We have alot of children out there who show lots of enthusiasm about racing the karts. We have quite a few kart drivers that won't be able to drive in the outlaw class next year do to their age. The addition of the 250 cc class will allow our outlaw kart drivers to still participate in something they enjoy. This class allows our kids to race in the kart division until they are 18. No, karts aren't cheap, the best time to look for karts is in the off season, reason being, you can find them cheaper do to the drivers going into different classes. We have tracks available for our drivers they include Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain and Elko.

Thank all of you for all of your positive responses. It is my intention to move forward with my daughter in racing. I must admit I was very taken back by a couple of comments referring to Redding, Ca and of course the response referring to someone's opinion as being an a**...
