What was the reasoning behind changing the meeting that was scheduled for Thurday June 9th to June 8th? You need to give proper notice of meeting changes. I understand you guys also send out emails? I guess as a paid member I am not included in that? I am not sure what bylaws you are following....but I did talk with speak with Catherine Cortez Masto, Attorney General office and they directed me to their website http://ag.state.nv.us/publications/manuals/Guide%20to%20NonProfits.pdf . It addresses the Nevada Revised Statues that we must follow and is a guide for Non Profit's in the State of Nevada. I was also advised that the Attorney General office handles all complaints and investigations regarding non profits.

the reason being that we have membership who would not be able to attend the meeting tomorrow due to the start of the iron man challenge in fallon. because of this, i asked that the meeting date be changed to wednesday. many of the volunteers working at the track this week are planning to go or participate in the challenge. i felt it necessary to touch base with them, to see their progress in the various projects we have going, as we try to finish them up before the races on sat. sorry for the inconvenience this caused. loren

Ms. Ryle, As Loren advised you the meeting date was changed for a specific reason, due to a special event. If you are interested in a copy of the Bylaws, please contact Mrs. Christiansen who will be more than happy to provide you with one.
In addition, the Nile Valley Race Club, is just that that a Club. The open meeting laws that apply for public entities or regular non-profit entities do not apply here. The NRS you are refering to is a GUIDE which can be followed.
Mrs. Christiansen sends out email reminders to the Board of Directors, President, Vice President and Treasurer, not the general membership. If you would like to attend the general membership meetings please feel free to do so, but please be advised we make every effort to keep them on a regular schedule as much as possible. Please be advised that Mrs. Christiansen is a volunteer who works extremely hard for us. She does not have the time to advise all members of the general membership of a meeting date change due to a special event.
If you would like additional information regarding contact information for Mrs. Cortez-Masto's office or how to file any complaints you may feel appropriate please let me know and I can assist you with that information. I also have copies of the Nevada Revised Statues, Nevada Administrative Codes and information regarding Non Profit guidelines if you would like to view them.
I'm sure that you can understand how busy the volunteers for the Nile Valley Race Club are and how hard we are working to keep the track up and running. Please remember that we are all volunteers who take time away from our families, personal lives and professional lives to help keep the track in operation. I appreciate your interest in addressing issues and would like to encourage you to put that time and energy toward volunteering at the track. There are lots of projects that need to be completed and your spare time would be greatly appreciated in assisting with these.
Thank you again for your comments, proactive approach to keeping things in order and your information. Again, If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. As a reminder, Elections for Club Officers and Board of Directors are held at the end of the race season and they are all open for nominations each year. Sincerely, Laura Richardson, Treasurer, Volunteer, Driver and Member for the Nile Valley Race Club

Hello Laura Richardson, Treasurer, Volunteer, Driver and Member for the Nile Valley Race Club:
Thank you for responding to my post. I would like to address several comments that you made in your post.
1) I AM a paid member of this "club" and should be afforded respect, preveleges as other members are and I do have a voice in this "club"!
2) Just to clarify - per your statement (as the Treasurer of this club) that Nile Valley Race Club Does Not have to follow open meeting laws and that the Club does not have to obey Nevada Revised Statues (NRS) for 501c Non Profits? I would get some clarification on that before placing statement on the internet that are set in stone.
3) I DO Appreciate all the work that the volunteers for the Nile Valley Race Club do. Unfortunately I do not have the time volunteer at the track. However I do not feel that I or anyone else should be criticised or statements made of Facebook for not volunteering at the track. In lue of that, my father and I (Cash Welding) sponsored $1000 plus to the Dart Association to get them (Dwarfs) to come race at "our" track. They put on a great show here in Lovelock!!
4) Please remember.....this is a "Club" and without the club member thier would be no club!! I do not believe I am out of line for requesting further notice for meeting changes.
Thank you for responding.

shanryle, are you really going to refer to the Attorney General office and Nevada Revised Statues all because somebody forgot to put you on an email list so you would be notified of a meeting change? Don't you think you are blowing this way out of proportion? While I can understand you being upset that you weren't notified of the meeting change, had you simply contacted one of the board members and inquired why you were not on the mailing list and therefore weren't notified of the meeting change, I'm sure they would have rectified the situation immediately with an apology for their slight oversight. Are these people that run the track perfect? No, they are not. They are human and prone to mistakes as all of us are. They are volunteers who donate much of their time putting on an event for all of us to watch and enjoy. I can't believe you actually felt the need to call the Attorney General's Office all because you as a "paid member" were accidentally left off of a mailing list. Mistakes have been made in the past, and they will be made in the future. It's easy to sit back and judge these people who are running the track, but unless you are willing to volunteer your time and think you can do a better job than they are doing now, then please give them a break and have a bit of understanding, for all our sakes.

Ms. Ryle,
I will repost for your clarification the statement I made regarding your comment itemized as #2 "In addition, the Nile Valley Race Club, is just that that a Club. The open meeting laws that apply for public entities or regular non-profit entities do not apply here. The NRS you are refering to is a GUIDE which can be followed. "
I am sure that any future meeting changes will be posted on the Website and you as a paid member can view them there at your convienence. That is the same priveledge all other members of the Nile Valley Race Club are given.
I do not believe that I questioned your paid membership status or nor do I have any information regarding anything to do with your Facebook status.
My personal opinion differs however, regarding the respect you believe you should be afforded as a Club member. I personally believe that respect is an issue that is earned. Not demanded, freely given without cause or purchased. Personally, if I felt that I was not being treated fairly as a Club member or given the same priveledges as others I would likely reconsider becoming a member in the future. That option is open for you as well.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter or I can be of further assistance to you, please feel free to contact me personally. Have a wonderful weekend, and if you get the opportunity to come to the Iron Man Race in Lovelock, a quick and sincere, good job or thank you for your efforts, to the volunteers who are working the track is always appreciated by them!
Sincerely, Laura Richardson Treasurer, Volunteer, Driver and Member

Why? You going to report me to the Attorney General's Office too?? What does it matter? Give these people a break for a simple oversight.

No, I just don't hide behind screen names and delete old post so I can't be tracked.
